Almost a month into the New Year…you’ve set your goals, and now’s a good time to evaluate, how are you doing?

Doesn’t matter what the goals are, check in with these guidelines:

• Check your goal — is it specific?  Really? Is it so specific that you know exactly what it will look like, what it will feel like when you accomplish it, where you’ll likely be, what you’ll say, who you’ll tell and how it will sound and feel like to tell them?  Practice that sense of fulfilling your goal, let your subconscious help you get there.
• Does it have a deadline, and mileposts along the way?  Of course!
• Does it still align with the massive action plan that you committed to, to reach those mileposts and the goal?

Check, check, check?  Great, time for evaluation and fine tuning!

1. So, what’s working and what’s not?  As much as you can measure what results your getting from your actions and efforts, make a realistic assessment of where you’re getting the best traction and what needs to be dumped or revised.  No judgment, just evaluation and re-orientation!  Try to get it down to a science — X number of repetitions of this action yields this result.
2. Are you having fun yet?  Seriously, if you are not enjoying the X number of repetitions that are yielding the results, you need to make them fun, or you’ll begin dreading your day which will absolutely sabotage you.  If it’s an essential, then read some Tony Robbins and add a high positive trigger to it (basically, even if you don’t like the activity, you “charge” it with hugely positive thoughts or activities to condition your mind to link the huge positive charge and the action — it works!)
3. Accountability.   If you’re not on track, figure out why, and don’t be afraid to bring in other people resources to help evaluate the situation.  Look, we all have lenses — sometimes we see ourselves too critically, sometimes we see ourselves as victims, all sorts of faulty perceptions can be leading us astray.  Ask for an “independent audit” — find someone who has been successful in achieving your goal or something similar, and share with them where you are.  If you’re lucky and they truly care about your success, you will likely get a dose of tough love, which you of course will be prepared to accept graciously!

We all know the analogy — planes reach their goal by constant course corrections, too, so, use the end of this month to look back and look forward!

The numbers indicate there is a real economic shift taking place, which makes sense if you think about it. The Industrial Age was all about economies of scale, the Internet Age is about the power of the individual.

Economies of scale wove itself throughout culture during the 20th century, big machines, big facilities, big capital needs, big people at the top, little people manning the oars at the bottom (so to speak).

Then came electronics, the age of big radio, then big television and with it, a big way to promote products and services…advertising.

But, along came the internet, and the Rise of the Individual (just my term).  The scale of big is no longer a requirement for success.  The internet allows direct, personal connection between any one person and another, leveraged to an almost limitless extent — one person can be directly connected to billions.

Network marketing is the corporate business model turned upside down:  a network as a home biz is successful when there are many successful business owners in the network; in the corporate model, there are few business owners at the top, and layers of employees, with progressively lower wages, on the way down.

In the corporate “pyramid,” employees have little chance of seeing real wealth.  By contrast, in network marketing, individuals have their own home biz. By setting up other business owners, who in turn set up other business owners, the “wealth” flows across multiple businesses — yours, those who helped you get set up, and those who you will help.

Many people see network marketing as just direct sales, which it is in part, but I prefer Robert Kiyosaki’s view (Rich Dad/Poor Dad author) — your home biz network is an asset, it’s a business that works for you.

This shift in mindset is what sets successful network marketers apart from those who fall by the wayside.  Those top earning networkers are focused on the success of  new home biz owners in their network.  When you see your network as a long term asset, this makes all the sense in the world — the short term financial gains are fine, but what you’re really looking for is income generation from a business.

So, helping others, in Kiyosaki’s view, has to be as important to you as helping yourself is.  A successful network is truly a model dependent on everyone’s boat getting lifted.

Contrast that with the corporate business “pyramid” — those at the top receive the bulk of the rewards, and those at the bottom are employees competing for wages in the employment market.  It’s a model that’s leaving the average worker behind, and I wonder why some people have such a poor view of network marketing opportunities.   There have been some bad operators and some ill-conceived business models, but, do your research, and you can figure out which are solid and which might not be.

In a previous post, we covered the basics for where you are financially — write down:

• What you make
• What you spend

Cable/internet/phone over internet — of the three, the most “essential” is internet (if you’re a minimalist, surfing free wi-fi “hotspots” is an option, and if you really want to un-handcuff yourself from getting sucked into unproductive computer time, there’s the library!)  Check out all providers for internet only — a good place to start is BroadbandMap.gov.  Make some choices — do you really NEED cable and the upgrades, could you live with say, an Amazon $7.99 a month subscription for your entertainment?  And that internet phone line — if everyone has cell phones, do you need that additional line?  Something to explore, phone over the internet is called VOIP (voice over internet protocol).  There is a device called Ooma which gives the virtually same service you’re getting, BUT, once you buy the device ($149 on Amazon), the service is FREE!  Do check it out…and you’re welcome!

Finally, the cell phones.  You will almost always save money by going non-contract!  You do have to buy your own phone, but ask yourself, isn’t it worth saving money every month?  Seriously, would you furnish your home through a rental center?  Of course not!  You know how much you’d overpay, it makes credit card interest look cheap!  Well that’s the same economic choice you’re making when you sign your typical cell phone contract, to get a “free” phone.  Do the math!  Often, the sooner you cut the cord, even though you’re paying termination fees, the better off you are in the long run.  (If you can’t bring yourself to pay those termination fees, sign up for our contract expiration reminder and we’ll email you 30 days or so before your contract renews).

The Phone Decision –
You can buy a phone from Solavei during the enrollment process or bring your own unlocked GSM phone (such as T-Mobile and ATT phones).  If you’re not sure your phone is compatible, dial *#06# then send, if it returns an IMEI number, you’re good — write it down for enrollment.  (If it’s an MEID number or nothing comes back, it’s not compatible.)

If you need to buy a phone, you can buy a phone from Solavei (you’ll see these three smartphone choices during enrollment) OR you can buy any unlocked GSM phone (best to have the phone in hand before you enroll — you’ll need the IMEI number).  Some thoughts and suggestions from our experience:

Decide on your price point, but remember you get what you pay for!

Prime your mental game for financial freedom, starting with your

home biz decision.  Here’s a great technique for clearing some mental baggage and making room for success!

Henry Ford put it best, whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.  You may have intellectually decided you are going to take steps to get your financial house in order, but does your subconscious believe you?

If you’re experiencing dread, anxiety, or procrastination when you think about what needs to be done, if you find yourself still doing all those things you know aren’t moving you forward, and are avoiding what you know are the action steps you should be taking, chances are you’ve got stuff going on at the subconscious level that conflicts with your new intellectual decisions.  Over time and with persistence, positive talk and thinking will help, but here’s a great method to bring up and help neutralize some of the, frankly, insane thoughts that could be holding you back.  Here are the steps:

Pick the new place you want to move into.  I find it’s best to start this work with something really concrete, and frame it in the present.  An example for me could be “I’ve gotten another three people switched to saving and starting their own Solavei home biz this week!”  Notice — the language is, I’m there, it’s already happened (and for me, I like to affirm that it’s a new place that benefits everyone).  Another example might be, “This first day in my new job totally exceeds my expectations.”  Work with it — the key is it’s already happened and it’s great.

Identify and release attachment and aversions. (all credit to the beautiful Lester Levenson for this exercise, as currently taught by Release Technique and Letting Go). The process is simple, run your statement through four “lenses:” what do I like about this, what do I dislike about this, what is the advantage of this, what is the disadvantage of this, and let go of whatever feelings and body sensations come up.  What you’re doing is finding and clearing subconscious objections to thinking you can.

Here’s what it would look like in my example.  I’m in a quiet place, I take some deep relaxing breaths, I start with imagining that experience, “I’ve gotten another three people switched to saving and starting their own Solavei home biz this week!”  I try to add as many sensory details as I can — where am I when I’m experiencing this, how do I feel on the inside, am I jumping up and down, fist-pumping, laughing, what does my voice sound like, what am I looking at, what am I touching, tasting, etc.  Stay with it and adjust it for as long as you can, then, ask the questions, “what do I LIKE about switching three people to Solavei this week?”  You might want to jot down what pops up, but most importantly note what changes in internal sensations come up — heaviness, tightness, anxiety, fear, and, as best you can, just ride them out, let them exhaust themselves (a tip — to help release the sensations, try “tapping” the fleshy, karate chop part of either hand).  On to the next question, “what do I DISLIKE…,” “what are the ADVANTAGES…,” “what are the DISADVANTAGES…”

Hope you try it, and have great results, but remember, this is just clearing the space, getting to thinking you can.  You still have to take action, and pay attention to what new insights or inspirations might come up!
